Mindset

Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success—a simple idea that makes all the difference. Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and productivity in the worlds of business, education, and sports.

Once upon a time. when Cat was a small little girl, Cat has discovered the power of her mindset (of course, without knowing what to call it at that time). Life was a bit too much for Little Cat, especially with 7 siblings and not enough space to be on your own. No space for privacy, no space for crying, no space to write down your feelings. There was always something to do, someone to disturb you and tale telling on your activities.

At that time, Cat discovered that the best place to hide will be inside your own mind. When Cat was sad, Cat hid under the far end of the bed (which she shared with her sisters) and closed her eyes tightly, forcing her mind to think that all this was temporary. This life was not reality. Cat pushed all sadness away and create Cat's own stories: that Cat had run away, that Cat was adopted and waiting for her real parents to come and claim her. It was silly, but it helped Cat to escape from dark thoughts.

Cat would pretend that some things never happen, Cat would forget all the ugly words that hurt, Cat would forget all the bad things that made Cat cry. Cat was not strong, and this was Cat's way of survival. Cat got through most of her childhood and teenager's angst by this power of mindset control. The same technique was used when Cat further her studies overseas. Four years of not coming back to Malaysia. Four years of staying alone, of really building her wn world and identity.

Cat became so good at it, that Cat started to believe in the stories too. Cat's memories of things, events , happenings are quite different from what people told Cat of how things actually happen. It became quite scary when you do not know which is the truth anymore.

The good and the bad side of running away from reality. It made Cat the way Cat is today: someone who does not remember her childhood or her very early memories. Is it a bad thing? Maybe not so? You will not regret of things that you cannot remember.

Mindset: It's more powerful than any drugs if you know how to use it.

Strangers

I believe that one of the saddest things is when two people who really get to know each other:
their secrets:
their fears,
their favorite things;
what they love;
what they hate;
well, literally everything.

and then something happens; they go back to being strangers.

It's  like you have to walk past him/her and pretend like
you never knew them
never even talk to them before..

when in reality you know everything about them...
inside and out.
