Wax Hands

Don't you just love this: Wax Hand art!

I know what you are going to say: Oh dear, this thing has been around for the last 5 years and it's not a new thing!

I also know that fact.. :p It's only that I have never had the time or interest to see how it was done before this. And seeing it for the first time, I would like to share it at this notebook. :)

A hand wax is not only about making a replica of your own hand.
It's the experience of actually doing it that represents an unforgettable experience: Feeling the cold sensation when you dip your own hand into a pot of low temperature wax over and over again until a thick mold is created. Then we wait for the 'hand' to harden.

For me, it is a delight to see your OWN hand being duplicated. The sensation might almost be like buying the last ice cream during a hot sunny day and having fun showing it off to friends. Imagine the 'ooh..where did you get that?' when they come for a chat or a visit. Hmm.. and also enjoying taunting friends and family at the same time, making them squirm with jealousy over the cool wax hand of yours.

By the way, the wax hand original color is white. After dipping the wax hand into warm, soothing wax for a mould to form, you then dip them into a variety of color combination of dyes.

A few example of people's favorite gestures for wax hand :

* Given as a special gift to love ones with a message using a hand sign (like “I Love You”, “Thumbs up”, “Peace”, etc.)

* A momento : Hands joined together between good friends signaling everlasting friendship, between lovers, and also as a photo holder.

* Practical use: the wax hand is used as a cellular phone holder, business card holder, etc.

* A unique display or decoration with hand sign of special meaning to that individual.

My favorite gesture would be of a hand holding out as if resting, or with palms up as if supplicating.

If you miss someone, you can put your hand inside the open palm of his/hers wax hand and feel as if he/she is with you. Or you can put the wax hand at your cheek, imagining his/her hand is touching your cheek. You can also put your fingertips touching the wax hand fingertips to feel a sense of bonding with that person. Or it can also be your gift to your loved ones where they can feel near to you , even when you are not there. Interesting idea, isn't it?
